SPECIFICATIONS / LICENSING INFORMATION


 


If the mill has the TDS installed it would be quite convenient for the engineer to perform UT data analysis whenever needed. In fact, the TDS was designed to be installed at the mill so the engineer can interact with the software. The word interact pertains because the TDS can filter, manipulate and present the UT data in a variety of ways. Also, the TDS is an archiving facility and becomes the mills database for storing the data from all of the boilers at the mill. TCRI has been archiving data from many mills for a very long time. Should the mill decide to install the TDS, all of the historical data that we may have from your mill will be transferred to the mills server. Once the historical data is on the mills server, the engineer will be able to fully employ the functions of the TDS to monitor the condition of all the boilers at the mill.


The licensing information is simple and straight forward. The highlights are as follows,


1. The TDS is Windows based and runs on the latest operating systems.


2. Will run on Windows LAN.


3. Uses AutoCad to create new drawings. UT data analysis and print routines do not need Auto CAD to operate. If you desire to make drawing, you must acquire AutoCad independently.


4. No up-front fee to install the TDS at the mill.


5. A simple $xxx/month to license the software.


6. You can install the TDS on your server and as many computers as you wish for the same $xxx. In other words, you can install the TDS on five or six computers at the mill and the total price of $xxx per month (paid annually) does not increase.


7. Updates of the TDS are published annually and are free to the mills licensed to use the software.


8. Once the TDS is licensed by a mill, the software is not supposed to be used to analyze data from another mill. Nor is the TDS supposed to be transferred to another mill without written permission from TCRI.


9. The initial TDS training class is two days long and can be conducted at the mill or at the TCRI facilities in Charleston. There is no charge for instructor time for the initial class if the training is conducted in Charleston. If we travel to the mill to conduct the training, our expenses must be paid by the mill (i.e. Rental car, hotel and food).


10. If the mill has a change of personnel and request additional training classes, there is a charge for the additional classes. If performed in Charleston, the fee is $xxx per student. If the class is conducted at the mill, the cost will be our expenses plus instructor time a xxxx.


11. Telephone tech support is free for those who have gone through the training class. Telephone tech support is also free for those who have not been through the training class. However, we prefer to spend our time helping an engineer that already knows something about the TDS.


12. The TDS UT data files are ASCII files and can be read by any application program that deals with ASCII files. The actual file structure has been public domain information since the beginning of the TDS. Producing wastage rates is actually the end result of the TDS mission. Before the wastage rates can become a reality, the data must be gathered and entered into the TDS. TCRI is designed to be at the mill during the shutdown to enter and qualify the data. If you license the TDS, you can enter the data yourself or have TCRI perform this function. If you elect to have TCRI present during the shutdown, all you would do between shutdowns is use the TDS to plan for the next shutdown.
